day one is a little late, but here it!!

how this will go is we will have two takes, one from Nick and one from Me. They will just be thoughts about what has taken place thus far. I hope you enjoy them!

day 1. Nick!
our journey started today when we left the civic center20 minutes late. that's better then my family so I'd say a success!
all 130 of us split into 3 buses, stopping 3 times for lunch dinner and to use the bathroom. we made it too our hotel
around 10:30 eastern time. since we arrived at the hotel later then had been planed we did not have group devotions with
the whole of the people traveling with us. we were also giving a small snack bag before we left, needless to say we are swimming in snacks now.

day 1. Robb!

ok, day one of traveling across the US, with a bus load of youth
and adults. I think we did around 560 miles, starting in Roanoke Va, and ending up in Indianapolis Id.
The Morning devotion was on our faith journey and the symbolism of these youth on a real journey to
continue their faith journey was quite profound to me. I was struck with the hope that these youth take time
to allow their own path to religion to happen. I think so many adults want to help young people on their journey that
it really becomes a take two for the adult. I'm excited to sit back and watch as they hopefully challenge their
beliefs and even take a broader scope of what wonderful things religion can provide. Following Jesus' teachings can lead
us all to a wonderful place....but I'm inclined to think it's even more wonderful when we don't all get to the same place.

After morning devotions, we sat and sat and sat, and then finally we ate, only to sit some more. This pattern will probably
continue for the next two days. I'm really looking forward to Mt. Rushmore!

  1. Love the two perspectives! I think there is a lot more sitting in your future.
