Here's a couple of fun facts that have taken place thus far.
1. Nick and I both had sauerkraut tonight on our Ruben sandwiches, which I believe Lynchburg CoB had their sausage and sauerkraut dinner as well. Nothing like congregation unity.
2. We have traveled around 1100 miles in two days.
3. I think this is the most west by car for either Nick or myself.
tomorrow I think we actually start sight-seeing. So hopefully more pictures will follow!
Nick's Take
day 2
today we got up at a early hour, i used to not like the morning what so ever but i have recently found there are a lot of spiritual things to be found in the morning. once on the bus this was much the truer with devotions. the story told
during devotions was about walking in a unfamiliar place in the dark. and how having a light can be a great asset to you in such a time. the deeper meaning in this i found was that god can be your light and no matter how unfamiliar with
your surroundings you may be you will get through it with god in your life and at the end of your endeavor there will always be a light such as the lord to help you find your way out of the dark.
Robb's Take
Day two.
AFter a restful stay in a quite comfortable bed, we began day 2!
The morning devotion today taked about darkness. It's quite easy to draw a path from our journey to being in the dark. I'm hopeful that our drivers are not in the dark as to our destination! the story that was told this morning, taked about the difference of walking a road you know very well in the day time, and then taking
that same road at night. It's quite a different experience. However I don't think this is always a bad thing. Too many times we are frightened or scared of the dark, as children or even adults, but do we need to be? Going down a road in the dark and not knowing exactly where you are, can be both frightening and exciting. I choose to think that the more we go down the road we don't know the more we might find a new and wonderful place. As a counselor at SSOMC(shepherd's sping outdoor ministry center) there are miles of paths to get where you need to go. I remember one night traveling the path back to the cabins in completely darkness, not knowing exactly where we were going and having left in the day time without our flashlights. There was one moment when we came to a place I'd seen in the light many times...however in the dark, it was full of lightening bugs, a natural light show! To this day this is one of my favorite places to be. I don't think we would have ever known about this had we not started to walk in the darkness! What else do we miss by being scared of the dark? Haven't we learned that as long as we're walking with Jesus, it doesn't matter what path we take, or whether it's well lit?
